Adrian Scrope (or Scroop) was a strict Puritan and fought on the Parliament side in the English Civil War. He was wounded at the Battle of Edgehill (mentioned by John Aubrey) but recovered. He led troops at the Battle of St Neots 1648. He was one of the judges at the trial of King Charles 1st and signed his death warrant. In 1660 after the Restoration, he, with other regicides, was tried and executed by being hung, drawn and quartered in public.
