Interested in pictorial record, Sir Benjamin Stone deliberately documented the significant visits made to parliament in the course of his political career. This vibrant group photograph of the smartly dressed athletes captures key delegates from the Irish American Athletic Club, based in New York, who were a dominant force in America's Olympic team. It also includes Lewis Tewanima, the talented long distance runner and member of the Hopi people from Arizona, who sits in the front row on the far left. He went on to achieve greater glory in the next Olympic games held in Stockholm in 1912.
