I recently (well, just before Christmas 2015) purchased an original copy of the black and white photo of Angus McB that was cut out to be used in this photo. On the reverse of the board it is mounted on is a letter from Angus to a Mr White. In it Angus explains: "No Christmas cards left and can't print any more so you will have to do with this which is the centre of next year's card!" So the photo must have been sent to Mr White in 1982 showing that Angus worked a year ahead on making his Christmas cards (at least in the 1980s).

There are occasions when we are unsure of the identity of a sitter or artist, their life dates, occupation or have not recorded their family relationships. Sometimes we have not recorded the date of a portrait. Do you have specialist knowledge or a particular interest about any aspect of the portrait or sitter or artist that you can share with us? We would welcome any information that adds to and enhances our information and understanding about a particular portrait, sitter or artist.
