My great aunt Silvia Myers used to say that she had ‘a foolish aunt and a wicked aunt’ referring to Dorothy Tennant (wicked) and Elsie Tennant (foolish). Elsie, who ‘painted china beautifully’ was ‘simple’ and never married. I have a photo of a Victorian painting of her by an unidentified artist. I do not know why Silvia thought Dorothy wicked....... I possess two carte de visite albums compiled compiled by Georgina Aide (nee Collier) in the 1860’s contaning cartes de visite of various Tennants, Colliers & various Victorian ‘big-wigs’.
