The Pierce Roberts portrait of John Hayes St Leger is actually of Col Barrymore Matthew “Barry” St Leger bap. 1733 d. 1789. He served under Woolfe at the siege of Quebec. He also played a key role in the American war of Independence. His brother was Major-General Anthony St. Leger who founded the St Leger stakes
