The Pusey family and their friends: drawings by Clara Pusey, circa 1856
7 Portraits in set
Drawings and watercolours, nearly all by Clara Pusey, one of the nieces of Edward Pusey, a leader of the Oxford Movement who looked after Clara, her brother and sister following the death of their parents in 1854 and 55. They reveal a charming picture of social and family life in Oxford in the mid-19th century; in part they were a running commentary on events in Oxford. Some of the drawings were accompanied by witty descriptions of the people whom Clara drew.
