I approached the Aneurin Bevan Health Board at the beginning of February with a view of documenting the pandemic photographically and was extremely grateful to be given permission. The NHS has never been under so much pressure and I wanted to capture every minute possible while also working on the frontline myself. The pandemic hit my hospital like a tsunami. I witnessed friends and colleagues breaking down. Physically and mentally. This wasn't a moment of weakness though. This was my friend getting ready to 'go again’. This showed the determination that every single key worker has. That Britain has. She rose to her feet moments later, donned her PPE and took on the pandemic head first. Proud to be part of the National Health Service. Proud to be a key worker. Proud to be British.
The photographs were published in my book 'Behind the Mask' and sold thousands of copies, raising money for the NHS and Wales Air Ambulance.
