6-8 years: Vicious Viruses

At the time of writing, Sir Paul Nurse was helping in the global effort to better understand COVID-19. Search up images of viruses online – real and imagined. You would not be able to see a virus without a microscope because they are so small. If you could see them though, and if they were to come to life as cartoon characters, what would they look like? Make your own vicious virus.

You will need: Blue tack or play dough, googly eyes (optional), a pen.

Instructions

  • Take a small piece of Blue tack or play dough and roll it into a ball.
  • Start to pull out the edges to shape it, or add other pieces of Blue tack to form a new shape.
  • Give your virus an expression. Use a pen or pencil to press into the Blue tack and mark a mouth and eyes.
  • If you have googly eyes add these to bring them to life.
  • Give your virus a name.
