A stylish, sky-lit getaway from the city bustle, the  Portrait Café serves quality sandwiches, salads, stews and soup as well as an enticing selection of hand-crafted cakes and pastries. Our barista-made coffee comes from Union Roasters, one of London’s premier artisan suppliers.

The Friday lates Bar

Every Friday from 18.00 – 20.30 you can enjoy a beer, glass of prosecco, wine or a gin and tonic at the Friday Lates Bar located the Main Hall. Alternatively, relax with a drink in the Portrait Café on Floor -3.

Specialising in books on British history, biography, art, photography and costume the shop also stocks a comprehensive range for children. The Bookshop offers the full range of National Portrait Gallery publications and offers an attractive location in which to browse. DVDs, CDS, posters, and magazines are on sale too and a mail order and book ordering service are also available.

Access to our brand new Bookshop in the Main Hall is via the lift situated in the Lerner galleries on Floor 0.

The Gift Shop is located next to the main entrance, on the Gallery’s Ground Floor. The Gift Shop stocks a range of branded and unique products, prints and books inspired by the Gallery’s Collection, exhibitions and displays. Browse our selection of jewellery, stationery, postcards, exhibition catalogues and seasonal products. You can also order framed and unframed prints from an iPad at the till point with a selection of over 125,000 Collection images and have them delivered to your home.
