Rowanne Cowley undertook a BA (Joint Hons) in visual art and Spanish at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth and has also undertaken short courses at Hereford College of Arts. Her work has been seen in several open exhibitions in Shrewsbury and Ludlow and a solo exhibition at the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre.
This self-portrait was made as part of a personal project to complete a portrait of each member of Crowley’s family in one year. Crowley works as a full-time gardener and so family sittings and painting sessions have to be organised in the evenings or during bad weather around her work schedule.
