Oil on linen

Richard Burger studied at the Art Students League
of New York and Chelsea College of Art. His work
has been seen in exhibitions in London, Genoa
and New York. In 2015 he was one of the artists
chosen for the BP Shipping commission, ‘Project
Neptune’.

The portrait is of Burger’s sister, who is also an
artist. Burger says: ‘We both loved the time we
spent together which brought us closer. I think
I managed to get across in the painting what
she is all about. The stiffness in the hands gives
away the fact she has Parkinsons disease.’
