Jane Bown Exposures

This display coincides with the publication of Jane Bown’s new book Exposures published in October 2009. Images such as her classic 1976 study of Samuel Beckett will be shown alongside unpublished pictures for the first time. Working almost exclusively in black and white and with natural light, throughout her career Bown has produced astonishingly candid photographs that reveal the private side of her famous subjects. 2009 celebrates the 60th anniversary for when Jane Bown started work at the Observer.
