Stephen Spender
by Humphrey Spender
NPG x14702

This small display marks the centenary of the birth of the poet and critic Sir Stephen Spender. One of the 'modern poets' of the 1930s, Spender worked alongside friends W.H. Auden and Louis MacNeice to recharge poetry by challenging style and subject matter. The display includes photographs and drawings by Ida Kar and Sir David Low.
