Isabella Blow
by Tim Noble, by Sue Webster
2002
NPG 6872

Fashion journalist, stylist and muse, Isabella Blow (1958-2007) is credited with discovering and promoting the careers of important British designers including Alexander McQueen and the milliner Philip Treacy, whose hats defined her own flamboyant style. Recently acquired by the Gallery, this is a unique portrait by Noble and Webster, in which a spotlight transforms a ball of stuffed animals, including birds, a rat and a snake, into a vivid silhouette of Blow's head.
