Discover the power of a picture this half term with a day of workshops exploring photographic portraits. Pose, style, capture and create your own pictures, inspired by the Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize exhibition.

Get stuck in with our selection of free drop-in workshops for all the family and explore the Gallery with our free activity trails which can be picked up from the Family Desk on Floor 0.

Bring a picnic and enjoy our lunch space which can be found on Floor -3 in the Learning Centre. Please note the lunch space is available every day during half term

Workshops are first come first served, with limited capacity.

Reclaimed Rock Star
Photography Studio
11 – 1pm and 2 – 4pm
Cut and manipulate recycled plastic bags to create outfits and reclaim your inner rock star. Inspired by artist Hassan Hajjaj’s photo portraits, create your own images to print and take home with you.

Make a Statement
Art Studio
11 – 1pm and 2 – 4pm
What matters to you? Make a statement or image of an object personal to you, inspired by Rory Payne's photograph Nana Dancing Queen. Once created take your picture in front of a bright colourful backdrop.

Frame It
Clore Studio
11 – 1pm and 2 – 4pm
Create a fun frame inspired by Hassan Hajjaj’s Moroccan influenced work. Use a range of decorations to create colourful and bold patterns to surround your own photograph.

Wonder Wheels
Floor 3
11 – 4pm
Have a go at merging two images together to create a quirky Victorian optical toy. What surprising or fun images can you make?

Rework the Image
Floor 3
11 – 4pm
Using images from the exhibition and the permanent Collection, explore ideas about composition, identity and fragmentation through collage and drawing.
