These intimate art weekends enable you to explore, develop and improve your creativity. Working alongside leading artists and photographers, take inspiration from the Gallery and look at portraiture in new, exciting ways. Class numbers are limited to 12. All materials are provided.

Join photographer Rory Lewis to investigate both archetypal and subversive depictions of strength and power. Inspired by the portraiture of painters and by Rory’s own photographs of political and military figures, work with uniformed models and gain understanding on how body positioning, composition, lighting and subject interaction work to capture these innate qualities.

Photographer Rory Lewis, whose portraits have been acquired by the National Portrait Gallery, will show you how to use the correct lighting methods, perfectly illuminating your subjects in his style of chiaroscuro. Utilising different modifiers and working with a professional model, you will acquire skills to  improve your low key lighting technique and capture amazing shots for your portfolio. Suitable for those who already have some knowledge of digital photography and know how to use their cameras in manual mode.
