Join award-winning author, poet and broadcaster, Salena Godden for a poetry performance in the Galleries. 

Drawing on magical realism and the notion of a dream space - themes explored within the upcoming exhibition, Francesca Woodman and Julia Margaret Cameron: Portraits to Dream In, Salena will be reading a selection of her works exploring similar themes.

Salena Godden FRSL is an award-winning writer, novelist, poet, memoirist and broadcaster of Jamaican and Irish mixed heritage based in London. 

Her debut novel Mrs Death Misses Death won the Indie Book Award for Fiction and the People’s Book Prize, and was shortlisted for the British Book Awards and the Gordon Burn Prize. Her work has been widely anthologised and broadcast on BBC radio, TV and film. Salena Godden has signed a 3-book deal with Canongate. 

She is currently working on a literary memoir Springfield Road - A Poets Childhood Revisited and a brand new full poetry collection With Love, Grief and Fury which launch together in May 2024. The eagerly anticipated second novel set in the Mrs Death Misses Death universe titled The Life of Life is due for publication in spring 2025.
