Tim Walker’s photographs have entranced the readers of Vogue for over a decade. Extravagant staging and romantic motifs characterise his unmistakable style. Walker began as a freelance photographic assistant in London before moving to New York City as a full time assistant to Richard Avedon. At the age of 25 he shot his first fashion story for Vogue, and has photographed for the British, Italian and American editions, as well as W Magazine and LOVE Magazine ever since. The Victoria & Albert Museum and the National Portrait Gallery include Walker’s photographs in their permanent collections.
Jerry Stafford is a writer and curator. He is creative director at Paris based film production company Premiere Heure and personal stylist to performers Tilda Swinton and Gwendoline Christie. He has contributed as journalist and creative consultant to Another Magazine, System and W Magazine and has worked with photographer Tim Walker on several award-winning portfolios. He recently curated the exhibition ‘Rara Avis’ at White Cube Paris and is currently working on a documentary about designer Karl Lagerfeld. Aside from his work in fashion and the arts, he is a dedicated avian enthusiast.
Dr Nicholas Cullinan took up his position as the Director of the National Portrait Gallery in spring 2015 and has most recently overseen the largest transformation of the Gallery since its building opened in 1896. Prior to this, he was Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and from 2007 to 2013, Nicholas was Curator of International Modern Art at Tate Modern, where, in 2014, he co-curated an exhibition of Henri Matisse's cut-outs with Sir Nicholas Serota, which remains the most popular exhibition in Tate’s history. Nicholas received his BA, MA and PhD in art history from the Courtauld Institute of Art in London and in 2006–7 he held the Hilla Rebay International Fellowship at the Guggenheim museums in Bilbao, New York and Venice.
