Tomas Georgeson studied fine art at the University of Derby followed by an MA in fine art at Central Saint Martin’s College, London. His work has been seen in group and solo exhibitions in London and Manchester and he was the winner of the Derby Open competition, 2002.

This portrait of the artist’s father was made at their family home. Georgeson says that he has been making drawings and paintings of his father since deciding to become an artist fifteen years ago. Although Georgeson uses portraiture frequently in his work, he says that here he wanted: ‘To make the most honest, intimate statement possible about my father.’
