Paul Benney is an artist whose work has been seen in solo exhibitions in New York and London and in numerous group exhibitions in Europe, Australia and the USA. Benney’s work has been included in the BP Portrait Award 1995–2000, 2008, 2010 and his portrait of Baron Weidenfeld is in the National Portrait Gallery Collection.

The portrait is of the chef Fergus Henderson, one of the founders of St. John restaurant, Smithfield. Henderson is known for his concept of ‘nose to tail eating’ and has recently won a Lifetime Achievement Award from the World’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy.
