This project has now been archived and these pages are no longer being updated.
BP Portrait Award: Next Generation was an annual project which last ran in 2020. The project aimed to inspire young people and support their creative and personal development through working with artists to develop their skills and confidence in art and portraiture, taking inspiration from the BP Portrait Award.
2020: Make Art
In 2020, BP Next Generation – MAKE ART – went online to inspire young people with ideas, advice and skills to take their enjoyment of making art to another level, with our three artists Peta Taylor, Robin-Lee Hall and Sadie Lee.
2019: Artwork display
This display of portraits showcases artwork created by young people involved in the project in summer 2019. Over 3-days the young people were inspired by the BP Portrait Award exhibition, explored new approaches to portraiture, created digital portraits, learnt new art techniques, interviewed award-winning BP artists and worked with a model to create their own work. They were encouraged to experiment and work directly onto canvas to create these final pieces.
