Many of the artists and sitters in the Collection were involved with music. Art historian Gayna Pelham leads an innovative tour accompanied by short pieces of music, some of which relate directly to a portrait but some might be more unexpected to inspire you to think about the sitter in a new way.

Gayna is an artist and art historian who has worked for the National Portrait Gallery and the National Gallery for over 15 years.  With a background in music, literature as well as art, she has a passion for teaching, particularly those with little or no experience of art, and she gets extraordinary results.  She particularly focuses in working in a cross arts way and enjoys using these skills to run workshops on stress relief and well-being.  Her own practice centres on drawing, painting and interactive installations and often focuses on the expected versus the unexpected.
