Claudia Wilson plays a set inspired by Michael Jackson: On the Wall. Claudia says: Michael Jackson has been a part of my life since 1969 when the Jackson 5 first appeared. Coming from a big family of sisters, we loved them. Posters covered our walls, we watched and waited for every appearance and we loved and sang every album as they came out with a passion. Michael and his brothers have always been in my heart ever since and Michael’s Off The Wall album will forever be in my top 10. I will be going way back in my selections to those records that made us dance throughout Michael’s career, from the Jackson 5, The Jacksons and from Michael himself. Bouncing off these will be some MJ edits from the nineties and 2000s and a few of the other Artists who were around in the ‘70s making similar Soul and Disco.
Claudia Wilson is the Owner of Pure Vinyl Record Shop. Brixton-born Claudia has been involved in the local music scene for many years, through Sound Systems and her DJ residency at the legendary Mango Landin', known then as DJ Claw. Pure Vinyl has been open since 2013 and has recently found a new location in Brixton. Already the shop has become known for its selection of some of the best examples of new material and rare gems and visitors to the shop have included The Last Poets, De La Soul and Omar. The shop has given Claudia more incentive to come out of her self-imposed retirement to DJ more and she has recently been spinning at various venues around South London with her Funk and Soul vinyl selections.
