Virgin Xtravaganzah
Virgin Xtravaganzah

To celebrate LGBT History Month, artist Jon Sleigh leads this session in which you embrace otherness and queer identity in your work through a close investigation of gender, form and perception.

Inspired by famous queer sitters in the Collection and with Virgin Xtravaganzah (London's Holy one and only Virgin Mary drag compère and comedian) as your model, this fun and fast-paced session features warm-up drawing experiments before moving on to short poses capturing movement and longer, more detailed studies. All to a soundtrack of anthemic queer sounds and music.  Please note that this is a clothed session.

Our popular life-drawing sessions take place on the last Friday of each month in the Ondaatje Wing Theatre. Suitable for all abilities, all materials provided.

Jon Sleigh is an arts educator and learning curator. Recent working includes three years with the Arts Council Collection National Partners Program based at Birmingham Museums Trust. Jon now works across the country with diverse galleries and collections, and writes for national publications on art history and theory.

Virgin Xtravaganzah is an international performer and MC who has brought her shows to India, Iceland, Hong Kong, Netherlands, USA, and throughout Europe.  In London, she has performed at The Underbelly Festival, Bethnal Green Working Men's Club and curates and hosts her semi regular Xtravaganzah variety shows at The Royal Vauxhall Tavern.  She also regularly compères for Torture Garden.
