The Portrait Gala 2014 – Collecting to Inspire Film

We hope that you will enjoy this short film which introduces some of the wide range of activities, behind-the-scenes and in the Gallery, which happen on a daily basis. The film illustrates that at the heart of the Gallery’s work is the exceptional collection of painted, sculpted and photographic portraits representing those contributing to British history and culture over many generations.

As well as showing how crucial it is to be able to build the Collection, the film demonstrates what a difference the funds raised at The Portrait Gala will make in ensuring our Collection is cared for through appropriate display, storage and conservation. This, in turn, will enable us to continue to create activities that are designed to deepen engagement with the Collection and inspire more people in the future.
