Schools and young people are able to further explore poetry, photography and portraiture at each exhibition venue through an extensive programme of bespoke learning and engagement activity developed for the project by the National Portrait Gallery and regional partners working with the National Literacy Trust and Apples and Snakes.

At each venue there is a photography project to respond to the exhibition themes and ideas working with young people and local photographers.

The NLT run projects in the poorest communities, campaign to make literacy a priority for politicians and parents, and support schools.

The long established Poets in Education Scheme (PiES) introduces explosive performances, engaging workshops and memorable experiences to schools nationwide.
