Igor Aleksander is an emeritus professor of Neural Systems Engineering in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Imperial College, London. He is an expert in artificial intelligence, neural networks and artificial consciousness, having designed the world's first neural pattern recognition system in the 1980s (the WISARD). In 1991 he laid down the principles for the first neural vision machine (the MAGNUS). Aleksander is the author of Impossible Minds (1996).
