Entered Parliament as MP for Boston in Lincolnshire in 1812 and in 1820 he succeeded to his father, Sir Peter Burrell's title and entered the House of Lords. Eight years later, he succeeded his mother, becoming Baron Willoughby de Eresby and Joint Heredity Lord Great Chamberlain.
