Tilda Swinton (Katherine Matilda Swinton)

Tilda Swinton worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company before moving into film in the 1980s. She was a close friend and collaborator of Derek Jarman, with whom she made seven films including Caravaggio (1986). She received critical praise for her role in Sally Potter's Orlando (1992) and was named Best Supporting Actress at both the Oscars and the BAFTAs for her performance in Michael Clayton (2007). Swinton played the White Witch in the Chronicles of Narnia series of films. In 2009 she was nominated for Best Actress at the Evening Standard British Film Awards for her role in I am Love (2009) and in 2011 starred in Lynne Ramsay's We Need to Talk About Kevin. In 2020, she was awarded a BFI Fellowship in recognition of her contribution to film culture, independent film exhibition and philanthropy.
