Miranda Chiu was a young PR girl who worked at Link Information Services, owned and run by Gina franklin, a brilliant woman PR, from premises in Orchard House, above M & S Oxford Street, W.1. I worked with her in the late 60's. We shared an office Miranda first came to note when working at a trade fair demonstrating a cigarette lighter shaped as a pebble. She quirkily wore it as a pendant and ... that led to her success in PR and promotions. She had a partner, a young man from NY. She also used to model hand shots for various advertising agents. Her name came from hearing Miranda being called out in the street in NY. She turned to see who it was being called and decided she liked the name enough to appropriate it for herself.

Personally, I worked for Link on the largest PR account ever given in GB, Petfoods, Trill for Budgies, which spawned a whole nationwide campaign. I was the 'Auntie' in a printed insert which was published in conjunction with various expert consultants and given free with 2 national journals, several times a year. I also devised activities and wrote copy to promote the brand. Great fun, great times ... Myrna Hayter (then, Sherman, nee Greenfield).
